      Guardian has a job from Channel Four for an airtime assistant (£19k). Recruiters Media Types need a subeditor for a contract publisher (23-26k). And Career Moves is looking for a reporter (£22-23k) for a B2B/newspaper.

      On Journalism.co.uk, the South London Press needs a senior photographer. Informa need a reporter/deputy editor. And a gambling website is looking for a writer/editor.

      The Careers Group has an advert for a record label looking for an intern. The Royal Society of London needs a publishing assistant for work experience (travel expenses only).

      On Gumtree, Precise Media are looking for part-time readers/editors for press clipping work (£7.50/hour).

      Craigslist has an advert for a slightly odd sounding humor writing contest (prize is £50).

      The GRADES recruitment fair is tomorrow and Thursday, if you're interested. BBC will be there, because they're recruitment fair sluts.

      Journalism Jobs - October 30

      HoldtheFrontPage has an advert from Woman magazine for a comissioning editor and one from Insurance Times for a news editor and a subeditor. The surprisingly really very good South London Press needs a senior reporter.

      The BBC has advertised on The Careers Group for a relief producer with French and English for BBC Afrique (£15/hr) and a relief producer with Kinyarwanda/Kirundi for their Great Lakes service.

      On the Guardian, the BBC is looking for a rights assistant and a broadcast journalist.

      Still on that site -- as it's Monday there're more -- Hothouse Media need a publishing assistant. The Big Lottery Fund are looking for a web editor (£22-27k). The Week have advertisted for that editorial assistant -- and this time, I'll actually link it.

      An amateur rowing association needs a publication officer for their magazine and website.

      A new magazine/thing called Monocle is looking for a chief subeditor, researchers/writers with two languages (aside from English!) and editorial assistants, among others.

      The Guardian itself needs a production assistant. Sky needs a radio journalist. BUPA needs an assistant health editor (£20-25k).

      A few jobs for art editors and designers on journalism.co.uk today.

      On Gumtree, Seven are again advertising for freelance writers (unpaid) and have announced they'll be giving up the interweb-only plan for the dead-tree method.

      Craigslist has an advert from an international Jewish organization, who are interviewing freelancers today and tomorrow -- so email them now, if you're interested.

      And, the unfortunately named Nuts4Chic.com needs writers/reporters. And no, it's not about transexuals. And, by the looks of it, they could use a web designer, too. And a subeditor. And, someone to tell them that women do not all love pink. /end rant

      Journalism Jobs - October 27

      Really good entry-level job on the Guardian today. A B2B publisher is looking for an entry-level editor -- and not just subbing, either (17.5k).

      On JobSite, a contract publisher needs a subeditor with layout skills (22-26k).

      On Gumtree, something called Marmoset Media are looking for freelance journalists of all experience levels to add to their roster.

      Insurance Times have advertised on journalism.co.uk for a news editor (28-30k). There're a few good regional jobs posted there, too.

      LondonCareers.net have an ad for a features editor with three years' experience (30k+) for a healthcare B2B.

      Emap's shiny and successful Grazia needs a news reporter. Wait -- Grazia runs news? Emap's Ground Engineering, the foremost monthly magazine of the international geotechnical industry, also needs a reporter. For more regional jobs and previously-posted jobs, check out Emap's job site.

      Haymarket have reposted their online reporters/editorial staff job, which is depressing as I applied there, and of course, haven't heard from them. Damn it.

      Dennis' Maxim needs a picture researcher -- could be uh, fun for you guys. And This Week is looking for an editorial assistant -- this would be a very, very cool job. Better than looking at pictures of Maxim girls, anyway.

      BBC have updated their jobs page. I'll update my links, eventually.

      It's Friday, so GorkanaPr have updated their jobs list. You must register (it's free) to view their jobs, including a chief subeditor for Music Week, freelance production editors for LS magazine, a reporter for Marketing Week, a business night editor for the Independent, and freelance writers/reviewers for an internet startup.

      And Press Gazette have jobs for a financial journalist, a subeditor and a newspaper reporter with six months' experience.

      On the Guardian jobsite, a South London magazine publisher is looking for a production editor (25k). A business publisher needs a subeditor. BBC's Radio Times has an opening for a picture researcher.

      TotalJobs has an advert from PFJ for a financial journalist with 18 months' experience and another for a reporter with 12 months' experience (£20-21k).

      The Careers Group has an advert from the Push Guide to Which University, which needs researchers on a short-term, part-time basis.

      On Craigslist, an arts and music online magazine needs writers.

      Press Gazette is looking for environmental/farming freelance features writers. And TFL are offering a PR internship for minorities.

      On the Guardian, the New Zealand News are looking for a Kiwi with five years' experience to be their editor. Recruiters TMN are looking for a deputy features editor for a fashion B2B.

      Journalism.co.uk has an advert from the Sun Online, for a journalist to create advertorials -- which, uh, isn't exactly "journalism", now is it?

      Thompson Stanley Publishers are looking for a senior journalist for some financial newsletters. Future have readvertised for a features writer for Procycling.

      The Careers Group have a posting for a PR/marketing assistant for a book publisher (£6/hr). And something called Black Dog Publishing is looking for an intern (unpaid). And Archant Life need a copy controller -- they say it's an ideal first publishing job (£16k).

      On HoldTheFrontPage, Strand News Services are looking for a reporter with shorthand.

      An overseas property website (based in Surrey) is looking for a newsletter editor, via Gumtree. And a Global Internet Publishing Organization -- sounds dramatic -- is looking for freelance reporters and photographers for their site. They pay on a royalties only basis; you won't get rich.

      On Monster, The Lancet is looking for an editorial assistant (£18-20k), as is a copyright agency (£20-22k).

      If you have editorial experience in the US schools and library markets, then Inspired Selection have a job as an editor for you (ref: 4150).

      Craigslist has a few freelance adverts. A mediation website needs an expert to write on the subject (25/article) and a rather similarly worded ad is looking for an expert to write on sleep (also 25/article).

      An online travel site is looking for freelance writers; you get paid a portion of the Adsense revenue from whatever page your article is on. You will not get rich this way, I can assure you that.

      And Future's computerandvideogames.com is looking for a channel editor.
      Biofuels360, a new energy newsletter, needs an experienced -- as in, minimum eight years experience -- copy editor.

      It's Monday, so Guardian jobsite has a few...

      Atlantic Books need a production assistant. Quarto Publishing, who do books and magazines, are looking for a comissioning assistant, art editors and a project editor.

      KP Publishing are advertising for a children's book editor.

      A medical publisher needs a subeditor with a year of experience.

      A German television network is looking for a news producer -- obviously, you must speak German.

      The Energy Intelligence Group need an energy reporter, preferably with languages.

      Mobile magazine is looking for a deputy news editor/online editor. Estate Agent Foxton's have an opening for an editorial assistant for their publications (£18k).

      H&P's Elle is looking for a web editor. Okay, that's not really entry-level, is it?

      And recruiter Formula Won has an ad for a subeditor (£23k).

      On Journalism.co.uk, Gardening Which? -- a strange looking name, but it's part of which.co.uk -- are looking for an assistant editor (£25-32k).

      HoldTheFrontPage have a posting for a subeditor on a North London newspaper. And a reporter is needed in Hounslow.

      Gumtree has an from a market researcher looking for journalists over the age of 38 to take part in a focus group for £50. And a tour guide company needs a short-term, part-time copywriter.

      Craigslist has an advert up for another freelancing leads website.

      New Media Age have a job via Work Station for a web editor on a fashion site.

      Journalism Jobs - October 20

      On the Guardian, recruiters Inspired Selection are looking for a subeditor for health care journals. The horribly named Ovum have a job for a content editor (£22k). Work Station are looking for a production assistant (£17k).

      On CWjobs, there's a posting for an online content editor.

      The Careers Group has an advert from a TV production company for an intern. If you speak Zulu, you're needed for a documentary.

      Via Press Gazette, PFJ has a job for a junior writer at a communications agency.

      On JobsIn, there's a job for a web editor (£17-22k).

      Craigslist has a good sounding freelance travel writing gig (75 euros/article). A DIY site is looking for writers. And the advert looking for freelance writers from yesterday, with the hard to discern subjects, has reposted with the subjects. If you know about archaeology, dog tricks, creative writing or UK law, this surely rather strange and diverse website will pay you £25 an article.

      Jobsite has an advert for a production assistant (£22k) at Goldsmiths College -- the very people who gave me my education.

      Incisive have reporting jobs at Morgatge Solutions and Post magazine.

      Haymarket have a brand new big pile of jobs. The publishing house is looking for a chief subeditor for AutoCar, a subeditor for Independent Nurse, an editor for Young People Now, an editorial secretary for Children Now, a reporter for creative events mag RSVP and the company is looking for a variety of online reporting and editing roles.

      BBC has a job for a broadcast journalist and an assistant producer for their Children's stuff.

      It's Friday, so Gorkana have updated their jobs list. This week, music/lifestyle mag Notions need an editorial assistant, Bloomberg needs an aerospace reporter (cool!), Motor Transport are looking for an assistant editor and Emap's More needs a whole pile of editorial staff as do Computer Weekly. To see these jobs and ones from previous weeks, you need to go to their site and register. It's free and very very good.

      Journalism Jobs - October 19

      Press Gazette have posted a few new jobs -- which is good, as sounds like they could use the ad revenue right now -- including a super shiny one from the Times Educational Supplement and their Higher Education Supplement, who are looking for news reporters. Great job for recent graduates, as you've recently been students...

      Journalism.co.uk has a a job for an entertainment journalist for a showbiz news agency. You must have some newspaper/reporting experience. They also want people for work experience.

      And Recruit Media have an advert for a senior journalist (four years' experience) for a medical trade magazine.

      On the Guardian, a national health charity needs a part-time electronic information officer (£24k pro rata). MTV Europe need a licensing assistant.

      Recruit Media have posted on the Guardian for an assistant editor with three year's experience and a senior assistant online editor -- that's a great title, eh? how can you be senior and assistant? -- with some science or biomed background.

      Websters is looking for an editorial assistant for Encarta (£16k).

      On HoldtheFrontPage, Emap's Health Services Journal is looking for a reporter with two years' experience.

      Some interesting ones on the Careers Group. A small Japanese publishing company in Bermondsey is looking for a student to help edit books and magazines in English (low pay). Notting Hill Media want full-time and part-time grads/undergrads for paid work experience. And if you speak Japanese, CNN want you for work experience on a football program.

      And MacMillian need an assistant editor (£17k) for their books department -- Sarah, how about this one?

      A new gay travel site needs writers, via Craigslist. Another website is also looking for freelance writers, but the subject is hard to discern (£25/article).

      On LondonCareers.net, a food magazine needs a subeditor (£25-27k).

      A new website launch from Gorkana, called AboutMyGeneration.com and focuses on babyboomers (contact ron@aboutmygeneration.com for details/freelancing/on spec CVs). Don't forget that Gorkana will list your details as a freelancer and send it out to thousands of high-level media folks for free... Not too shabby.

      On the Guardian jobsite, recruiter Media Contacts are looking for an associate editor with strong writing skills (21k).

      Journalism.co.uk has a listing from an energy website looking for a reporter -- preferably with experience, but they will consider first jobbers.

      Gumtree has an advert from a lawyer looking for someone to help him put together a housing law newsletter.

      The Careers Group has a post from some website called drdesi.com looking for students for work experience in journalism, publishing, arts and photography (unpaid/travel expenses). And Eurosport SA are offering a PR internship (1350 euros/month).

      Emap's WGSN are looking for a subeditor.

      Centaur's Employee Benefits are looking for a reporter with experience or qualifications.
      Reed have an opening for an assistant news editor in their Sutton offices.

      And Macmillian need a temporary editorial assistant for their Statesman's Yearbook.

      Gumtree has an advert from some dude who is putting together a travel book, and wants contributors (unpaid).

      On Journalism.co.uk, a live music industry publisher is looking for a news/features writer (24k).

      And Legal Week need a reporter.

      The Guardian site has an ad from Websters/MSN, looking for various editorial staff.

      Jobsite has a publication looking for a freelance subeditor with InDesign skills (100/day).

      Craigslist has an ad for music bloggers (unpaid) and Naked Punch are looking for interns. A website on teen issues needs contributors (25/article).

      And another Schmooze and Booze event has been announced. The next one is November 21 in Southwark.

      The folks at Press Gazette have put together a new jobsite called Jobs4Journalists, which has a pile of jobs for journalists. It also has details of the Press Cadets thingy and Patrick is doing really well.       Recruiters PFJ have advertised for subeditors (up to £40k) with 18 months' experience, a reporter with a year of experience for a B2B (19-21k),

      Penguin Books' Puffin imprint need an editor.

      The Wellcome Trust is looking for a picture researcher (21k).

      The News of the World has a Sunday magazine -- who knew? -- which has openings for a senior features writer ("no beginners please") and a picture researcher (again, they say, "no beginners").

      Reed's Computer Weekly needs a subeditor, senior reporter and editor. They're based in Sutton.

      Artists and Illustrators need senior editorial allrounder.

      The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (do they build houseboats?) are looking for an editorial assistant (19-21k).

      The Careers Group has a cool-sounding internship at politics.co.uk. They're looking for a trainee journalist to work alongside the site editor for four months (£220 weekly).

      TotalJobs has a posting from recruiters PFJ for a reporter with 12 months' experience for a B2B/consumer publisher (19-20k).

      On Holdthefrontpage, NewsQuest's south London newspapers have an opening for a trainee subeditor. They'll teach you design, layout, copy-subbing and headline-writing.

      Gumtree has an advert from a non-profit's music magazine, looking for intern types (initially unpaid).

      Career publishers Vault are looking for a writer/editor, via Craigslist.

      Future Publishing are advertising week-long work experience placements at several magazines in Bath and What Laptop? in London.

      Just as Monday is Guardian media job day, I think Friday might become Gorkana day... You need to register with them (it's free) to see their several dozen jobs, so I can't link directly.       On TotalJobs, recruiters PFJ are looking for a a reporter with 18 months' experience for a financial publication (£26-30k).

      If you speak Arabic, Ink Publishing has an opening as an editor for you.

      IPC are looking for a junior designer.

      Journalism.co.uk has a job via Recruit Media for a technical writer on a computer magazine (£18-20k). Web site Register Hardware -- about computers, again -- is looking for a reviews editor and a reporter.

      RedBee media are looking for listings writers (19k). And mad.co.uk are looking for another senior reporter, with at least two years' experience.

      On the Guardian web site, DNL recruitment are looking for an online production assistant (up to 24k).

      On October 31, Penguin are holding a lunch-and-learn event for those wanting a career in book publishing.

      Schmooze and Booze is tonight. If you've got nothing better to do, it could be interesting.

      I've posted a new poll (look right). Based on the last highly scientific one -- "What type of job are you looking for" -- most of you want to be reporters (32%) followed by editorial assistants (30%). Interning, subbing and editing are in a near three-way tie for third, and poor layout/production is a lowly 3%.

      On the Guardian job site today, the International Medical Press has openings for a production editor and a medical editor/copy editor.

      Sky's Five News is looking for a production assistant.

      Spear Media need a chief subeditor (24k) with two years' experience for their "ultra-high luxury" publications.

      Mining Communications have an opening on their website for a junior web reporter.

      And recruiters Inspired Selection are looking to for an assistant editor for an educational publisher, in their Bibles, Music and Liturgical areas.

      Journalism.co.uk has a cool sounding one from a new business-to-business launch, who are looking for a trainee editor's assistant.

      Gumtree has an advert for a part-time theatre website editor.

      On Journalism.co.uk, Disability Now urgently needs a temporary reporter with NCTJ qualifications and a few years' experience (160/day).

      And Recruit Media are advertising for a content editor at a broadcaster (25-30k).

      Craigslist has an advert from something called Xomba, looking for freelance writers. Pay is by commission -- you write something, they post it, you split the adsense revenue 50/50. You won't get rich this way, I can tell you that.

      Someone else is looking for bloggers. They rather honestly say the pay is "poor".

      Emap's More is looking for a fashion and beauty assistant -- not sure if I've posted that before or not.

      Haymarket's Packaging News needs an experienced journalist as a news editor.

      A global financial services company needs an experienced journalist (£30k).

      Journalism.co.uk has an advert from Shipping Weekly for a subeditor. That company also needs a reporter and an assistant editor.

      A finance website is looking for a junior online reporter (16-18k).

      On TotalJobs, Solicitors Journal is looking for an editorial assistant.

      And on Gumtree, Film Exposed are still looking for writers (unpaid). EMMA online magazine is looking for writers and researchers (expenses only).

      Craigslist has an advert from a new online music magazine looking for writers (unpaid).

      Mortgage Strategy is looking for a reporter for their magazine and website (£18k).

      The Careers Group has a listing from the very cool Battersea Arts Center for a communications internship.

      On Total Jobs, recruiter PFJ is advertising for a reporter with two years' experience for a B2B (£26-30k).

      NatMags is looking for a junior subeditor for a wedding magazine.

      Hatchette Filipacchi don't have any new jobs listed, but they have posted a list of contacts for work experience and have an email address up to register yourself as a potential freelancer.

      On the Guardian job site, a learning diasability group needs someone to help them put together a newspaper.

      Two Sky channels websites (biography and crime) need a new media editor.

      On Gumtree, a guy writing a book is looking for travel writers (unpaid).

      There's a listing on Craigslist for an editorial intern/writer for a "a start-up newsletter about the global biofuels industry" (pays small stipend) for eight days a month.

      Personnel Today is advertising on Journalism.co.uk for a staff writer.

      JobSite has an advert for a graduate production assistant (£15-17k). And, a weekly pensions magazine is looking for a features writer (£20-21k) -- "would suit a 2nd jobber, or a 1st jobber who has good journalistic training".

      Horse racing network RaceTech is looking for trainee camera operators.

      CMP's Pulse -- a magazine for GPs -- is looking for a senior reporter and also a reporter, with a year of experience, tho they say journalism students with published work are welcome to apply. And, their Building magazine has an opening for a subeditor.

      Emap's Architecture Journal is looking for a subeditor with a year's experience.
