Journalism Jobs - January 3
On Gumtree, a Lyceum gambling magazine is looking for two freelance news journalists as well as a poker writer (16/day for two short stories).
Recruiter Media Contacts has advertised on TotalJobs for real-time financial journalists for a news agency. A public sector website needs an editor/content writer and a health site needs a web editor.
Looks like Journalism.co.uk has swung into full gear after the holidays. A publication called Mining Communications is looking for a senior subeditor and Reed's flightglobal.com is looking for an online editor (based in East Grinstead -- I was actually there once, if you can believe it).
Still on that site, property publisher Farscape is looking for a news/features editor. And Recruit Media has advertised there for a chief subeditor at a financial publisher (£35K-£40K), a reporter on a technology publication (£20-25k), an online manager for some site (£30-35k), and an editor (£24-29k) and subeditor (£24k) for intelligence stuff.
On the Careers Group, something called Enitharmon Press is offering work experience placements. And something called Merrell Publishers is offering a publishing internship. And a literary agency is offering a flexible internship (3 hours a week).
Newsquest has advertised on Hold the Front Page for two senior journalists. The Daily Mail needs a deputy editor. Sick of winter? Move to Bermuda; they need senior reporters.
The Gorkana PR job list seems to have gone daily -- 'cause I need more to monitor every day... Sign up http://www.gorkanapr.com). Centaur's new publication Mortgage Distributor is looking for freelancers (contact Matthew West on matthew.west@centaur.co.uk).
And, according to GorkanaPR: "AFX News is hiring more than 100 new reporters and subeditors worldwide." Check out their website for more details.
On Craigslist, the wonderfully-named Shiny Media is looking for bloggers for a variety of topics (paid -- not sure how much). Some website is running a humor writing contest (prize is $50).
Max emailed me to say thanks for the site: "I got my first journalism job from it a few months ago and so am eternally grateful!"
Next week's Schmooze and Booze is apparently all full up -- with journalists or PR-types, remains to be seen...
