It's almost the end of November. When the hell did that happen?
Anyway. It's Monday, so here're some Guardian jobs...
Channel 4 is looking for a community manager. Dennis has advertised for a web developer (£35k) and again for that online editorial assistant (£18k) for their new online development project. So cool.
If you have a science degree, Medaxial needs medical writers. The Royal Academy of Engineering needs an assistant editor (£19.5k) for their publications.
Cool-sounding one from law publishers Sweet and Maxwell, who are looking for publishing professionals to work across a variety of publications.
IPC's Woman magazine needs a comissioning editor.
The Veterinary Record needs a reporter; interviews are not until February, if the ad is correct.
Sky's Artsworld is looking for a program assistant.
The Guardian itself is looking for two subeditors for their arts and entertainment pages (insert your own joke about how badly they need subeditors here). Their Media section also needs a senior subeditor and Guardian Unlimited (ie, their website) needs production assistants.
On Journalism.co.uk, the Times Online needs freelance multimedia producers, meaning "journalists with broadcasting skills." Disability Now needs a subeditor/web manager (£24.5-27k).
HoldtheFrontPage has an advert from the Methodist Recorder, looking for a reporter. There's a big pile of regional jobs up on that site, so check that out if you're sick of London life.
GlobalRadioNews.com has advertised on the Careers Group for a trainee editor (£75/day).
On GorkanaPR, sign in to see their newest job adverts. Among others, Asian Woman is looking for freelance writers, Family History Monthly needs an assistant editor, dance magazine One Week to Live needs a subeditor, as does Haymarket's Young People Now magazine. There're dozens more new jobs -- really worth taking a look, but you have to register (for free) first.
Informa needs two reporters (.doc file) and a Spanish/Portugeuse reporter (.doc file) for their pharma publication. One of their business publications needs a junior reporter and a staff reporter (both .doc files). They've revamped their job website; check it out here.
And on Jobsite, recruiters PFJ are looking for a features editor with two years of experience (25k) for a "global analysis and intelligence organisation". They also need a chief subeditor.
. . .
Claire emailed me to say she's got a new journalism website, with advice on how to get a job in the industry. Worth a look.
And very sadly, Press Gazette has shut down after 41 years. I'm especially sad as we've not only lost a good publication and an independent voice in the media sector, but (back before the owners chickened out) because they wanted to pay me to move this blog to their site. Yes, I am this self-centered. But good luck to all the journalists and other staff looking for jobs... Anyway, Roy Greenslade's thoughts on it are here and Martin Stabe will be keeping his totally-wicked-awesome blog going on his own site. So check it out.
