Journalism Jobs - July 28
According to a story in the Guardian: "Graduates who chose a career in advertising, journalism or the law are more bored with work than contemporaries who opted for banking or accountancy." As many as 50% of graduates in media find their work boring.
With that said, here's some (hopefully not) boring media jobs...
On the Guardian, recruiters Reilly are looking for a staff writer with a year's experience for a financial magazine (£22-25k).
Job of the day comes via Journalism.co.uk from Pira International. They're looking for recent graduates to come work for them on their B2B publications: "Initially we are looking for candidates that can research, interview and write stories from home. The brightest and best news reporters will then join our in-house team of editors when positions arise in the next few months/early 2007." Great opportunity for graduates just finishing their coursework now.
That job site also has listings for freelance editors and a production journalist for Aspect Media, as well as an assistant editor at a Good Clinical Practice magazine (£23-26k).
Careers Group has listings for a Russian media intern (must speak the language) for a TV firm, a media research officer for the London Stock Exchange, a subscriptions/database assistant for Globe Business Publishing and work experience in the editorial office of the Royal Society of London.
Total Jobs has a few. EuroProperty needs three reporters. And Estate Gazette (still?) needs a finance reporter.
On Press Gazette, Bloomberg is hiring news reporters and editors, in London and elsewhere.
On Craigs List, something called Audio Snacks is looking for people to make podcasts of walking tours. An online lifestyle magazine needs unpaid freelance writers. Someone needs experienced writers for something about historical sites... it's a bit vague.
Monster jobs has one from Accountancy Age, looking for a reporter with a year's experience. And something called IP Generation need an entry-level, junior news and features journalist.
Have a good weekend!
