      Journalism Jobs - July 22

      Welcome to the special weekend edition... because I had nothing to do today.

      The NCTJ is running a writing contest for jouralism trainees. Topic is the European parliament; prize is £200 and a trip to Brussels; deadline is September 22.

      The NCTJ also have job postings -- who knew? -- although the two openings up there now are for non-London publications.

      According to Holdthefrontpage, Harlow College in Essex offers free NCTJ-accredited journalism training to under-19s.

      Transitions Abroad are running a travel writing competition, offering a prize of $250; entries due September 1st.

      And Bradt Travel guides is doing a travel writing workshop in September.
