Job Roundup - May 18
On Guardian Unlimited Jobs, Folio Recruitment (who I'll add to the recruiters list) has a very cool sounding posting for anyone interested in food and beauty -- sounds like an interesting publication, that one. The magazine(s) are looking for a sub/writer with a year's experience.
Also on GUJ, TMN recruiters has a posting -- and a well-paid one at that -- for a North American subeditor. I'm not sure they realize that North American's do indeed speak English, but if they test you, all you gotta do is drop the "u" and change your "s" to a "z". They also want a year's experience.
MediaUK has a post for sports journalists for some website. Must, um, like sports.
Also on MediaUK, a magazine about cranes -- probably not the birds -- is looking for an assistant editor with subbing, writing experience, as well as some usefulness on the interweb. Requires some international travel...
On Journalism.co.uk, Dow Jones is looking for a reporter with some knowledge of equity markets. So go buy the FT before applying.
On Jobsin, a website is looking for two subeditors for a six-week contract. They say they require 3 years related experience, but they are looking for short term work urgently, so it's worth a shot.
And Jobsite has a post for a news editor for a public sector thing; must know dreamweaver, photoshop. It's a contract position for three months and pays between 170 and 230 pounds a day.
Inspired Selection has a job posting up for an editorial assistant (ref: 3619) at a publishing house in Oxfordshire, in their Sociology and Criminology departments.
Emap has a posting for a staff writer for Bliss magazine. Must have one year's experience writing on a consumer magazine and a strong portfolio... in order to write for teenagers. They also have a series of vacancies at Retail Week, including one for a maternity-cover subeditor.
Still with Emap, Construction News is looking for a features writer with two year's experience and journalism qualifications. And the deadline for the H&V news reporter job is tomorrow...
And lastly for today, IPC has a staff writer's position for their TV magazine.
