And Brook Street also has a posting for an online content editor (ref: CLA/1832) for a jobsite (£20k). I'm guessing the first and third are the same job, but it's hard to tell from the adverts.

On TNT's jobsite, there's a job posted for a temporary reporter for a B2B (£13-14 p/hr) and a temporary subeditor, at the same rate. They also have a temporary managing editor for a travel thing (£12-13 p/hr). Not sure what's up with the "temporary" and the hourly wage... but all three are via recruiter PFJ. Coincidence? I think not.

Holdthefrontpage.co.uk has a posting for a mining publication for a junior sub/designer. Closing date is June 2. There's also a position open at the Tablet, a Catholic international weekly, for a foreign news editor. They're looking for a graduate with at least two year's experience. Recruit Media has a listing for an online content coordinator (£120 per day) on a contract basis. Must have 2 years of web experience.

According to the Guardian, Reuters is in the process of hiring 100 journalists. While there aren't any new jobs posted on their site, it might be a good time to give them a call if you've ever dreamed of working on a wire service. Or check out their graduate section.

You might have noticed some new sources today. I've added a few in the company listings and job listing pages; you may need to refresh the page to see them. And as always, if you know a good one I've missed, please share...

IPC has an ad for an editorial assistant for a race car magazine in Croydon.

The good folks at Macmillian have a posting for an online editor, but if you fit this description, well, wow, good for you: "The successful applicant will have, or will be shortly expecting to receive a PhD in a glycobiology-related discipline, but will have a broad interest and understanding of molecular biology."

Reed Business are looking for telephone researchers. This is soul-less, evil work. I speak from experience. But if you're still in school, or desperate for cash, or, say, both, maybe check it out. They also need a subeditor for a legal publication.

      That's it for today!

      Job Roundup - May 23

On the Guardian site, the British Museum needs an e-learning editor for one day a week, so good for you freelancers. The museum is also looking for a New Media Creative Author, which sounds like a web copy writer based on the description. They are looking for "creativity" rather than techie knowledge.

Still with the Guardian, something called Inframation is looking for senior reporters and researchers.

      Journalism.co.uk has a post for a trainee/intern equity reporter.

Also on that site, Future publishing is heavily advertising for their new launch, with posts for a subeditor and staff writers (based in Bath.) If you want to write/work for an entertainment magazine/site, and don't mind living in Bath, it's worth looking into this one. In fact, if you're willing to move to Bath, Future publishing is partially based there, so go to their jobs site, as they have many postings for the city...

Along with the usual stack-and-a-half of jobs from recruiter PFJ, Press Gazette has an interesting posting for a reporter with six months experience for a defense publication. Also a non-PFJ job for reporter at an environmental publication called ReNew, located in Cheltenham (where is that? Too lazy to Google).

Macmillian publishers are looking for an editorial assistant.

Reed Business Information has a posting for an online environment reporter for New Scientist. You'll need a good background for this one...

And, a new London alternative weekly paper has launched, called Penny, and they're looking for interns...

And noticed a job in Metro on the way into work... The freesheet is looking for an editorial assistant. I can't find their jobs section on their website, so I'll post the full details, but pick up your own copy if you want to see it in their words. It is not a writing position; it is purely administrative. The role consists of: general office duties, reader enquiries, photocopying, post, library maintenance. Must have an excellent phone manner and be good with microsoft word, as well as ability to balance workload and maintain a high degree of accuracy (whatever that means). Job goes Sunday to Thursday. Email CV and a letter explaining why you are worth a first interview to francesca.dickenson@ukmetro.co.uk by May 31.

      Job Update - May 22

Tons of jobs on the Guardian's jobsite, including the paper itself, which is looking for a trainee commissioning editor for a six-month term at their Weekend magazine. You must have two-years experience. Apply by June 2.

The Guardian is also looking for a subeditor (with two to three year's experience) and a business subeditor.

Still on Guardian's jobs website, Sage Publications is looking for a production editor with one year's experience or a publishing qualification.

Still on Gjobs, Future publishing has posted jobs for a news reporter (likely the same one listed on this site a week or so ago) with a few years experience.

For medical, nursing and bioscience grads, there's a good-sounding editorial assistant position.

And there're postings for an assistant editor for an optometry magazine, a copy editor for an international B2B, a production junior, and designers for sports publications. And "a young, enthusiastic reporter/writer for two technical magazines produced in London" which involve tyres and polyurethanes.

...or, you could just buy the Guardian today.

Press Gazette has a billion jobs up, and they're all sub-editor/reporter/staff writer types of similar description, so I can't remember which I've posted previously or not. I'll leave you to figure it out. Most are posted by recruiters PFJ.

On PFJ's site, they have postings for an editorial assistant for someone with six-month's experience, an editorial assistant with an entertainment site, and a reporter with a year's experience, among others.

Jobsin has a posting for an editorial assistant for a legal publication -- the advert begins on a misspelling, so take that as you will. They also have a posting for an online content editor.

And Media-Types has a posting for an editorial assistant for an online medical publisher.

And a note: PFJ has waaay too many jobs going up for me to list them all here without repeating a bunch or missing some. So to keep you from applying twice or missing something good, and then getting pissed off at me, I'll leave it up to you. I'll still post the most interesting ones, and let you check their site, and the other places they post (ie, Guardian, Independent jobs, Press Gazette) on your own.

      Job Update - May 19

Also on GUJ, TMN recruiters has a posting -- and a well-paid one at that -- for a North American subeditor. I'm not sure they realize that North American's do indeed speak English, but if they test you, all you gotta do is drop the "u" and change your "s" to a "z". They also want a year's experience.

MediaUK has a post for sports journalists for some website. Must, um, like sports.

Also on MediaUK, a magazine about cranes -- probably not the birds -- is looking for an assistant editor with subbing, writing experience, as well as some usefulness on the interweb. Requires some international travel...

Press Gazette has a lot of PFJ listings, including a journalist with 18 months experience for an HR mag and a reporter for a B2B. Wilminton Media needs an Editorial Assitant for a cosmetics publication; must be fluent in German. The same firm, but different publication, needs a reporter.

Still on GUJ, Real Recruitment is seeking a Publishing Production Assistant with a year of experience. And recruiters WorkStation are looking for a subeditor.

      More on Monday!

      People Profiler

Guardian Jobs has a silly online quiz about work personality called People Profiler. Do a five-minute quiz and find out what your work type is, and what sector you (apparently) best fit.

I came out as a Stressful Mercenary Mr. Big type (see left), which is most prevelant in the Sales sector. Given I'm horrid -- really, really horrid -- at sales, I doubt the accuracy of this.

According to PP, Media folk tend to have a low "focus of interest" and "high outgoingness".

And, Media people have the fourth highest job satisfaction (at a rather lowly 9%), but a similar level of anxiety (fourth in line, at 8%).

Jobsin has a listing for a Researcher for Getty Images.

Guardian Jobs has a posting for an intern traineeship for ITV News. It is paid and a year long; applications end May 31.

They also have a posting for Haymarket publishing, for a staff writer position for a Caravan mag. Even if you don't care about caravans, it's a good foot-in-the-door to a major publishing firm...

Other GUjobs include reporters for Steel Business Briefing and Cosmetics International, who both require little experience, but do prefer a second language.
